Why Are Algeria and Qatar Coming Close?

Algeria is all against any kind of settlement with Arab-Israel peace keeping treaty and does not see the need to become a part of it either.  According to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria has no intentions of sorting out anything or normalizing its equations with Israel.  According to Tebboune, the countries have rushed aimlessly into entering an agreement with Israel.

Algeria is now moving towards Qatar and the latter is happily showing support. It has always been Doha’s intent to show support for anyone who tries to come close to the Middle Eastern big wig countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Showing its unstinting support for the Palestinian issue at hand, Doha has moved closer to Algeria over the bilateral agreement signed between Israel, US and a Middle Eastern country.

Under the aegis of Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, there was an official statement made by Doha in a Qatar news agency. It stated that “the State of Qatar affirms its firm position on the Palestinian issue, which stipulates ending the Israeli occupation and establishing the State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital within the framework of international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions while granting all Palestinian refugees the right of return.”

Keeping in mind the Palestinian issue that has been a sour point with Israel, Tebboune has further commented that ‘the Palestinian issue is sacred for us and it is the mother of all issues and will not be resolved except by establishing a Palestinian state, with the 1967 borders, with Holy Jerusalem as its capital.”

While Morocco and Algeria might see eye to eye, when it comes to Israel, there is a common enemy.  Both do not want to side with Israel over the current leadership refusing to accept the need for sovereignty of the Palestinian people.

Confirmed reports says that streets of Morocco have been rocking with anti- Israeli slogan, renouncing the Arab nations from siding with Israel. Despite US intervention, Morocco is also in no mood to move away from its traditional lines and call it a truce.

For Qatar, this is a golden opportunity to show its solidarity amongst Arab nations that continue to ostracize this natural gas mini but rich Arab nation. Qatar has been under scrutiny for using unfair PR practices to project its starling image which actually has always been tarnished. The one major reason for this is its continuing to fund terrorist outfit through various dubious bank accounts and NGO establishments in Europe.

This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but also undermines efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Attacks on religious minorities are a direct attack on religious freedom and must be condemned by all. The Israeli authorities must take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and hold them accountable for their actions. It is also important to ensure the safety and protection of religious minorities and their places of worship, as guaranteed by international law. this incident is a sad reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region and the need for a comprehensive and just solution. It is up to all of us to work together to promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for different beliefs and cultures, and to build a brighter and more peaceful future for all.
