Hassan Sh announces that they are
financially ready for the election, "Farmajo wants to produce young
handmade PM like soldiers to vote for". Former Somali President Hassan
Sheikh Mohamud has dismissed reports that opposition candidates are not ready
to run in Somalia's 2020/21 elections and made serious allegations against
Farmajo.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the former president,
previous governments has said that his government will not allow any terrorist
group to operate in the country during the election. This is one of the
techniques that Farmajo is playing to win the next election. It appears that
the presidency is nominating young people and paying them to get the votes of
parliament again.
"They hope to produce a small
number of people to hunt for votes but I would say that will never happen and
it has not happened before."
Asked about the money for the
election, Hassan Sheikh said “many people who want seats in parliament would
have blocked by their financial capacity, as the government made a lot of money
on the requirements for candidacy.
On the other hand, Somali political
analyst and commentator Afyare Abdi Elmi spoke about the outcome of the Villa
Somalia conference beween federal government and regional leaders, in
particular the requirements for candidates running for both houses of
parliament.
Afyare argues that the amount of
money required to be paid by each candidate for both houses of parliament is
20,000, while 10,000 are required for those in the lower house is illegal and
far from fair, as it excludes many citizens from the list of eligible
candidates.
Taking action that could create
noise during the election year could damage the chances of re-electing
President [Farmajo], and is a sign that the election has entered a new phase
that has led to uncertainty over the return of the failed Farmajo government.
