Pakistan backs Turkey against France but is it to support hate crime

Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has invited unwanted trouble on him after he stood against the French President Emmnauel Macron and accused him of attcaking Islam.

Recently, the PM also summoned the French ambassador to Pakistan after teh foreign ministry released a statement saying that France is carrying a systematic Islamophobic campaign under the garb of freedom of expression.”

Macron is under a lot of pressure after Islamic countries are trying to unite against the European country especially after Turkey tried to lodge an aggressive campaign against Macron. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish President, questioned Macron’s mental health after the latter reportedly opinioned some questionable views on Islam.

The movement has increased to the extent that social media has flooded with boycott French products campaigns. But the question that still wanders around is what wrong did the French president do? How was Turkey involved in the whole incident?

Samuel Paty, a school teacher, took a session of freedom of speech and expressions and used cartoons of prophet Mohammed to explain the issue. The same example has been used by Paty since four years. It was in 2015 when France’s satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo suffered a terrorist attack. The cartoons shown by the teacher were the ones used in Charlie Hebdo. Paty has been subjected to criticism over using cartoons and also received a lot of threats before he was beheaded by a terrorist.

This resulted in people coming out in support of the late teacher and started demanding for stricter action. So then where is the problem? If a person is subjected to such gruesome end because he was taking a class on freedom of expression, then what can possibly be the problem.

And like any sensible leader would, Macron too supported Paty and condemned the incident. That’s it. He not only rightfully stood by the teacher, he also defended France’s right to speech and expression. Macron addressed people on wednesday and said, “Our compatriot was killed for teaching, for teaching children freedom of speech, freedom to believe, or not to believe. Our compatriot was the victim of a terrorist attack."

What needs to be questioned people normalising a killing of a teacher by a terrorist beacuse they belive that something that the teacher did was against Islam. It was a no shocker when Pakistan meddled in the situation and called Macron’s comment an ‘attack on Islam’ because he is also looking to gather around voters on the basis of religion politics.

At a time when people are disgracing and demeaning free speech and expression, French President has actually stood up for the victim and that makes him more than able for the position he is holding but Turkey and Pakistan are uniting to spread hate even for their own community by normalising such an act of hatred.
