  Shelling was started once again by Syrian regime troops in Daraa in a bid to assert control over an area that has defied state authority since it was retaken three years ago. The army was found unguarded when suddenly rebels captured and took control of troops and provinces in the southern area of Daraa.   Although, the army has sent hundreds of elite troops, dozens of tanks and armoured vehicles to storm the enclave where peaceful protests against Assad family rule began in 2011 and were met by deadly force before spreading across the country.   Worsening the situation, the opposition insists the agreement allowed only civilian control and not of military troops.   Monday, 19 October 2020. Turkey has opened a new training course for hundreds of Somali military personnel at the Turkish military base in the Somali capital Mogadishu. The training, which opened at the Turksom base in Mogadishu, will be given to the 6th Battalion of the Somali National Army and is related to counter-terrorism, according to a tweet from the Turkish embassy in Somalia. The training will be attended by 450 soldiers and will run until March 2021, with the swearing-in ceremony taking place on October 15th. The training follows a Turkish training project for young Somali soldiers, but the exact motive behind it is unknown.   Let’s look about what’s interesting on what I read today. This is a moment in the world of great transition. Turkey has redefined itself in the midst of this; the current Turkey is very different from what it was in the past. Nevertheless, some people still live in the past, do not believe in the idea that Turkey has "global interests" and think that other countries' interests can and will be decided by only the US.   But I want us to focus on this since the message is that it is a military force to be taken seriously by Turkey. It owns not only sophisticated weapons, but also a domestic defense industry that produces them. As the once-sabre-rattling countries are now pursuing dialogue and talks with Ankara to alleviate conflict, in fact, the message seems to have come through.
