   At least 100 Iranians arrested over more than 100 days of nationwide protests face charges punishable by death, Oslo-based group   Iran   Human Rights (IHR) has said. Protests have gripped Iran since September after an Iranian-Kurdish woman, Mahsa Amini, died in custody following her arrest in Tehran for an alleged breach of the country’s strict dress code for women. Earlier this month,  Iran executed two men in connection with the protests , an escalation in the authorities’ crackdown that activists say is meant to instil public fear.  In a report released on Tuesday, IHR identified 100 detainees facing potential capital punishment, including at least 11 already sentenced to death.   I want to share this intriguing news reports and sources familiar with the cases as saying that Iranian authorities had arrested at least eight Kurdish journalists since May 2020. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) is urging Iran to stop its imprisonment and harassment of Kurdish journalists amid what human rights groups have denounced as a crackdown on members of the minority group. CPJ’s call comes three months after 36 civil society and human rights organizations denounced “an ongoing wave of arbitrary arrests, incommunicado detention, and enforced disappearances by the Iranian authorities” targeting Iran’s “disadvantaged” Kurdish minority. The groups said that at least 96 members of the community had been arrested since the beginning of the year, including civil society activists, environmentalists, writers, university students, and “individuals with no known history of activism.”.

  Mistreatment of Kurdish villagers are brought human rights activist to the streets of Turkey. There has also been news over torture and food poisoning. These claims have been made by three pro- Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) politicians. Members of Amnesty International meanwhile are demanding government investigate the circumstances in which two Kurds were thrown off a military helicopter. But the government has accused the HDP of having ties with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and that thousands of its members have been prosecuted for the same reason, including its leaders. The HDP denies such links. The PKK is designated a terrorist group by Turkey, the European Union and US. The news has come into being since the imprisonment of the HDP politicians, including Ayhan Bilgen who is mayor of Van province.
