Turkey trains 450 Somali Military and continues his Secret Plans in Somalia

Monday, 19 October 2020. Turkey has opened a new training course for hundreds of Somali military personnel at the Turkish military base in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The training, which opened at the Turksom base in Mogadishu, will be given to the 6th Battalion of the Somali National Army and is related to counter-terrorism, according to a tweet from the Turkish embassy in Somalia.

The training will be attended by 450 soldiers and will run until March 2021, with the swearing-in ceremony taking place on October 15th. The training follows a Turkish training project for young Somali soldiers, but the exact motive behind it is unknown.

The trained youths have not yet been deployed to fight Al-Shabaab, but only guard government buildings and the Turkish official offices like embassy, while others work at the Turkish military base in Halane. Secondly the Turksoma training center is not known for its plans and there is no information about it. As you know, no one can reach Turksoma center, whether senior government officials, military officers or anyone else.

However, the opening ceremony was attended by Somali some members from the Somali federal government, the Turkish embassy in Mogadishu, and members of the military. These trainings are carried out by the Turks whenever they want and they are taken to the trainees wherever they want.

The relationship between Somalia and Turkey is a one-sided win relationship that during Farmajo's term. Turkey supports financially and militarily, but Somalis haven’t role in Turkey's involvement in Somalia in recent years. Turkey has trained one-third of Somalia's military forces, said Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Yılmaz in Mogadishu, but no victories yet reached by these forces.

Yilmax told the Anadolu news agency: "In total, Turkey is training a third of the Somali army, estimated at 15,000 to 16,000 troops. It is not yet clear why these forces did not bring significant success to the Somali nation and defeat terrorist groups.

Qatar, meanwhile, pays for the training of Somali forces. That is why it is questionable why these troops did not go to the areas controlled by Al-Shabaab, and this casts doubt on the suspicion that the two countries want to prolong the Somalia project or provide hidden support to Alshabab.
