No casualties as rocket strike on US military facility in Syria

There were no injuries or damage as a result of a rocket that struck a US military base in the Koniko gas field in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ez-zor. According to local sources who spoke to Anadolu on Monday, the attack was conducted from Deir Ez-zor neighborhoods that are home to "terrorist groups supported by Iran."

These sources claimed that several missiles were fired from Al-Bukamal, which is east of Deir Ez-zor, with one of them striking an area close to the US military installation but doing little damage. Attacks with missiles from areas where Iran-backed organizations are located have occasionally been directed at US military and coalition forces bases in Syria.

On March 25, rocket attacks on two US bases in eastern Syria reportedly damaged property but did not result in any injuries. The bases were in close proximity to the Koniko gas field and the al-Omar oil field in the Deir Ez-zor province. After Daesh/ISIS militants left the province in November 2017, the Syrian regime took control of Deir Ez-zor, which is located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.

Since early 2011, when the Bashar Assad dictatorship repressed pro-democracy protesters with extraordinary repression, Syria has been engulfed in a bloody civil war.
