Sadr signals return to politics in Iran

After some months of silence, Muqtada al-Sadr the  Iraqi Shiite cleric called on his supporters to hold unified Friday prayers in Baghdad and many other places.

Prayers were called after Sadar's written speech. Sadrist Telegram channel saying distributed the text of the address. Sadr said that there is a need to hold regular Friday prayers. He also sought to link the prayers with political messages including patriotism, reform, and fighting corruption, as well as resistance against occupation and colonialism.

Sadr said that even if Muqtada al-Sadr dies in the future, do not stop praying on Fridays. The public Friday prayer session was an important political symbol for the Sadist groups.

In June last year, when Sadr recalled his party members from Parliament, he called for Friday prayers for his followers. His supporters soon jumped as per the instructions in the parliament And all of them protested for nearly two months to block their Shiite rival, the Coordination Framework, from forming a government. The coordination operations linked Shia groups and factions close to Iran.

After the bloody struggle, the dharna which has been going on for the last 2 months has finally been called off.

Today's call by Sadr seems to mark Sadr's return to politics. Especially since his speech before the prayer had strong political messages so the eyes are automatically focusing on him.

Nouri al-Maliki the Ex prime minister found a gap with the State Law coalition, which is the question of the 40 seats in the parliament.

Many reports in the  Iraqi social media confirmed to Al-Monitor by sources in the bloc, 12 members form a new political group and left the old one. Maliki is the most important among the Sadr coordinating framework.

Sadr is trying his level best to protect his political power and prevent the coordination structure. Last October after Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani many officials were replaced to make changes in the unit.

Furthermore, the coordination structure plans to change the electoral law. This will help in Sadar's seats in both provincial and parliamentary elections.

So, it will interesting to look forward to the next announcement in Iran!
