UAE providing medical aid, supplies and other support to nations amid corona crisis

The United Arab Emirates has emerged as a saviour for many for sending medical supplies, humanitarian aid, and other support to the nations breaking under the burden of coronavirus.

Last week, The gulf nation shipped a second supply of medical equipment to Iran, one of the worst hit nation by the pandemic outbreak where over 800 Iranians succumbed to the deadly contagion. 
“Providing life-saving assistance to those experiencing distress is essential to serving the common good,” the UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy said in a statement. “The leadership and people stand shoulder to shoulder with nations in their time of need.”

On Thursday, Greece received eleven tons of medical supplies donated by the UAE to via a special Etihad Airways flight. The supplies included special coveralls for medical protection, medical gloves and sanitizer among other things, which were to be distributed across the nation. 

Greece government issued a statement expressing gratitude towards, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi & Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor of the UAE. The statement read, “It confirms the close relationship of the UAE with Greece. A relationship that began as economic cooperation, but thanks to the trust that was developed, it evolved into a strong bond.”

The Greek Prime Minister Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis personally thanked the country’s leaders for their undying support in the hour of need. Mitsotakis said, “the friendship and trust we share with the United Arab Emirates are dear, and especially during these difficult times the solidarity of our allies is evident—also shown through the delivery of valuable medical supplies today.”

Besides, UAE which has urged the nations for global solidarity to combat the ongoing  crisis, also helped a Saudi citizen and his son in getting out from the Republic of Mauritania and brought them in Abu Dhabi.

On Friday, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince also reached out to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to discuss the latest developments and effects of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, region and world at large. 

The discussion done over a phone call was UAE’s initiative to check on the sisterly and neighbouring nations on humanitarian grounds.

UAE’s leader reviewed precautionary and preventives measures taken by the two countries to fight the virus.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasised the need for countries to stand united against the global pandemic and grow over political issues during this common challenge ''we are all facing.'' He affirmed that Syrian - the sisterly Arab country - will not be left alone under these critical circumstances. Syrian President appreciated and praised UAE’s humanitarian collaboration in light of the new challenge which is eating away both the region and the world.

Israeli settlers have once again attacked religious minorities in the region, this time targeting a church in East Jerusalem.

Fights break out as Kurds protest the French government's denial of a terrorist attack
