Brazilian Foreign Ministry ordered Venezuelan diplomats to leave the country

The Brazilian Foreign Ministry has notified Venezuelan diplomats that they must leave the country.

The Foreign Ministry note says that if diplomats do not leave Brazil on their own, they will be sent.

According to the newspaper, there are currently 17 Venezuelan diplomats in Brazil.  In addition to the embassy in Brasilia, Venezuela has consulates in Manaus, Rio de Janeiro, Belen, São Paulo, Recife and Boa Vista.

Earlier, the Antagonista portal published an order from the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, which states that the country is recalling diplomats and the technical composition of its missions in Venezuela.  In the Bolivarian Republic, there will remain one Brazilian diplomat and employee of the diplomatic immunity department, the publication said.

The situation in Venezuela escalated after January 23, 2019, opposition leader Juan Guaidó, whose appointment to the post of speaker of the parliament two days earlier, was canceled by the Supreme Court, declared himself acting president.  He was recognized as the interim head of state by the United States, Lima Group countries (except Mexico), the Organization of American States and most EU countries joined them.  Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called the incident an attempted coup and announced the severance of diplomatic relations with the United States.  In his support, Russia, Belarus, Iran, China, Cuba, Nicaragua, Syria and Turkey spoke out.

Attacks on religious minorities are a direct attack on religious freedom and must be condemned by all. The Israeli authorities must take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and hold them accountable for their actions. It is also important to ensure the safety and protection of religious minorities and their places of worship, as guaranteed by international law. this incident is a sad reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region and the need for a comprehensive and just solution. It is up to all of us to work together to promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for different beliefs and cultures, and to build a brighter and more peaceful future for all.
