Relations between Palestine and Jordan may be spoiled even before it even started

Palestine is making its best efforts at stabilizing its relations with Arab nations and it was on its way to do it with Jordan as well but things may have spoiled due to one of the senior Palestinian officials unreasonable comments.

The senior officials reportedly announced that only Palestinian were adhering to the thwarted former US president Donald Trump’s middle east peace plan. The Jordanians believe that Palestinians should not take the sole responsibility as even they had a major role in derailing the Trump plan.

PA was responsible for throwing Trump’s plan off the shore after it was revealed in 2020 that the former US president was planning to liquidate the Palestinian issue and completely dismiss Palestinians rights. A lot Arab countries came together to confirm their displease from the plan and among them Jordan was also there. Jordan too rejected the plan along with other Arab leaders.

Jordan had dismissed the plan after it was found out that Trump may be looking at Jordan for an escape from the country and Jordan feared that it would create a lot of pressure on them. The timing of the disagreement between the two regions is very crucial as on the same day, there was a meeting between Jordan’s King Abdullah II and US President Joe Biden.

How the US has fared in terms of Palestine and the Israel issue is one the bigger reasons why it was a challenge ahead of the Jordan and US meet. Jordan is important to the US and as of Palestinians, it is considered nothing but a threat to the peace of the region, so for the US and Jordan it was a good meet and greet.

The PA president and Jordan counterpart were about to meet at the of this month and they supposedly had to discuss and coordinate “on the interest of the Arab nation and its common cause, primarily the Palestinian cause,” but despite best efforts, it might have spoiled after the statement of the Palestinian leader.

The meeting between the two top leaders of the Arab nations reportedly concluded with the Palestinian leader reiterating for Jordan’s support in the fight for its rights and making their diplomatic ties stronger in coming years.
