Qatar silently increases regional damages caused by its activities. What is it hiding?

The Middle East for years has been a controversial geographical region. From regional disputes to militant activities and to state funded terrorism, everythig collectively moved towards destroying the peace of the region. One of the major reasons why this belt keeps getting way more attention than other regions is the resources it shows off.

There is no doubt that the area is rich--both in terms of wealth and land. But given the blessing it has, some nations try to bring peace to the region and extend a helping hand to the more vulnerable communities while the others believe in power. On top the last of the power hungry rulers is Qatar.

Qatar is notorious for its behaviour in the region that has often led to increase in violence and human rights abuses in the region. And it is only fair that given the current circumstances that the world takes stand and refuses to turn a blind eye towards Qatar and take a step that curbs the violent activities it has been doing.

The power of this particular nation can be analysed from the fact that it is relatively a smaller country and to think of it is even smaller than Egypt and yet commands huge global presence for its size. Why do you think this is happening? Is it absolute monarchy or is it wealth?

To answer it in the simplest way, it is to do with a spoiled leadership that is hungry for power and dominance not just regionally but globally. It is using its wealth to buy the United States and other western countries to establish power over other regions. But the most necessary area where immediate attention has to be given is terrorism.

To think of that till date, Qatar remains one of the latest funders of Hamas, it is extremely threatening. It is using its wealth to sponsor terrorsim, risking lives of millions of people in the country as well as the entire region. Most of the world is aware of what had happened during the Palestine take over by Hamas. It was nothing but blood shed all over the area and Israel was the one to be blamed for it.

One of the things with Qatar is that it indulges itself in between two countries and further threatens peace. It keeps funding and sheltering a dangerous militant group like Hamas despite knowing that it belongs to an extremist agenda. It doesn’t just fund them but even welcomes Hamas leaders in Doha and one on top of their guest list was Khaled Meshaal, the former chief of Hamas’s political wing.

Another peace endangering group is the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that has universally been recognised as one of the most dangerous outlets still active in the Middle East. The Egypt based militant group is hugely feared by European countries who are now cutting off all contact with nations having slightest of interactions with it.

Even though it has been recognised as a terrorist group by other arab nations like UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Russia, Syria and Saudi Arabia, nations like Qatar continue to support the group and fund it for ulterior motives in vulnerable countries. Doha is also using state owned media house Al-Jazeera to spread rumours and promote anti-semotic sentiments in the region.

It is aware that if Israel uses its full potential against it, Qatar might be the one to suffer the blow because of the number of countries backing Israel. Hence, the Qatari leadership is trying to promote hatred against Jews and make the whole of Arab world against it. Hezbollah is another group that is being supported by the country. Hezbollah is an Iranian backed militia group that is known for spreading violence in the region.

In European countries, it is using religious institutions to transfer funds in the name of donations. National NGOs are involving themselves in transferring money to units operating as madrasas and that money is being used to plan attacks on other institutions representing other religions.

Qatar has a huge opportunity in its hand now with the FIFA world cup scheduled in the country for 2022. It can use this event as a cover to shade its activities and may have easier transactions of funds due to the mega tournament. It was already under scanner for human rights abuses that were reported during the setting up of the grounds. This is another reason why Qatar can’t be trusted with these activities or events especially given its connections to terror groups as it would give it a free hand.

Israeli settlers have once again attacked religious minorities in the region, this time targeting a church in East Jerusalem.

According to reports, the settlers assaulted clerics and worshippers at the Church of the Sepulchre of Saint Charbel, causing damage to the property and injuring several people. This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but also undermines efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Attacks on religious minorities are a direct attack on religious freedom and must be condemned by all. The Israeli authorities must take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and hold them accountable for their actions. It is also important to ensure the safety and protection of religious minorities and their places of worship, as guaranteed by international law. this incident is a sad reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region and the need for a comprehensive and just solution. It is up to all of us to work together to promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for different beliefs and cultures, and to build a brighter and more peaceful future for all.
