Qatari support for educational institutions in Albania

Qatar has decided to finance reconstruction of educational facilities in Albania by granting $5 million through its charity organisation, Qatar Fund For Development(QFFD). It has been announced by the QFFD that this funding is aimed at rebuilding two secondary schools and kindergarten in Albania.

This move by the state of Qatar may seem to be a noble deal with no strings attached to it but keeping in mind the recent activities of Qatar, this may serve a larger motive. Qatar has been in search of ways to expand its reach especially in the European countries. It was only a few months ago that Denmark had expressed its concerns over Qatar’s growing influence in the region when it had taken full control over the Hamad Bin Khalifa Centre for Civilization in the Great Mosque of Copenhagen. The matter raised fears when it was known that the amount of funding this organization was getting by Qatar is way above the normal cause. This forced the danish parliament to think about influence of Islamist radicalism in Danish society. Though nothing was proven afterwards, countries and religious structures were warned when dealing with Qatar.

Similarly, when the proposition of Qatar investing such a huge sum on the infrastructure of school in Albania was revealed, it raised concerns over the intentions with which Doha steps inside the border of Tirana. Doha has been notorious to spread false ideas and propaganda to its favour and there are full chances of this practice being implemented in these schools as well. The middle eastern country received a lot of criticism for its education system and the continuous spread of false information among children by educational societies. Doha tried to promote anti-semitisc views among little kids and radical ideas about Jews. What ensures Qatar’s ideas? How can one be sure that Qatar will not be disseminating such ideas or thoughts in Albania as it did in its schools? These questions will remain unanswered till the results are seen, which might be too late.

Also, when talking about Albania, it is certainly not one of the more financially stronger nations of Europe. Doha is taking advantage of the situation in Albania by providing them aid or funding their school infrastructure which are harmless moves if intentions are pure but Qatar is not the one to be trusted right now. Through various reports and investigations, it has been revealed that Qatar does fund terror organisations and support Muslim Bortherhood. The royal family members of Qatar have been found to be involved in such practices. One more thing to be considered before putting faith in ideas of Qatar is its geopolitical strategies and relations. Over the last few months, Qatar and Turkey have been actively supporting militant groups to cause disputes in the Arab world. Be it Libya or Somali, both the nations have joined hands in greed for power. Turkey has been unstoppable in its activities in the Eastern Meditarranean region, which is disputed territory of Greece. Then again, if we were to map these locations, Albania neighbors Greece. Qatar increasing activities in Albania might not be just a change of heart but an attempt to take over the region and gain control for Turkey to step in.

There are only two nations who support Muslim Brotehrhood---Qatar and Turkey and as per the French officials, 90 percent of the Qataru funds were channeled to the terror group and projects affliated by it. George Malbrunot, journalist, reveals that a total of 140 projects all around Europe, in which majority are mosques and Islamic centres, were ‘directly funded by Qatar over the last eight years’.

Doha’s interest in Albania is to expand questionable activities in Europe and make a way for radical movement.

Israeli settlers have once again attacked religious minorities in the region, this time targeting a church in East Jerusalem.

According to reports, the settlers assaulted clerics and worshippers at the Church of the Sepulchre of Saint Charbel, causing damage to the property and injuring several people. This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but also undermines efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Fights break out as Kurds protest the French government's denial of a terrorist attack

Following the murder of three Kurds in what is being considered to be a probable racist incident , there have been widespread protests in Paris. The fact that the authorities did not view the attack at a Kurdish centre as a terrorist act has enraged the Kurdish diaspora in Paris. A 69-year-old man opened fire on a crowd of individuals early on Friday morning at the Ahmet-Kaya centre on Rue d'Enghien in the 10th arrondissement. One of the three victims is badly injured. All of the dead were Kurdish community members who passed away both inside and outside the cultural centre. Agit Polat, a spokesman for the Kurdish centre, charged that French officials "yet again failed to safeguard us... This is a terrorist attack in our eyes, according to the AFP news agency. In the afternoon, a number of protestors, largely from the Kurdish diaspora, got into a fight with the police outside the centre and in the streets close by, throwing rocks and torching trash cans. Police use...
