Is Qatar worth being designated as an Ally of the US?

The United States has tremendous power and those considered as its allies will avail the benefits of it. As it considers making Qatar an ally, concerns about Doha’s activities in the Middle East region grows.

Doha has not exactly been beneficial for the Arab world considering its links and support to the terrorism. It is a well established fact that Qatar not only holds ties with Muslim Brotherhood but also funds the organization and its various branches. Now if the US considers making Qatar an ally, it will have to fight the belief of Qatar that supports the ideology against the West and democracy.

Earlier today, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arabian Gulf Affairs Timothy Lenderking confirmed that the US is indeed considering Qatar as a major non-NATO ally. This designation provides major benefits in trading and defense matters.

The west is clearly looking for a corporate opportunity with the richest country in the world  and making an attempt to sell arms but in doing so, it will put itself in danger as the ideologies of both the countries are completely different. If the US looks for ally in Qatar then it is indirectly standing for the activities that Qatar does including funding of Jihadist groups all over the world.

Qatar not only supports Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt but also propagates anti-Jew sentiments among people. The Kingdom of Qatar has been using its influence on Al Jazeera to manipulate a lot of information and has made various attempts on defaming the other pro-west Arab countries. And it was the US that recently in a statement said that Al Jazeera is not a media outlet, but a lobbying outfit. For a long time now, Doha has been trying to infiltrate the borders of Egypt and undermine the authority of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, who effectively dismantled the backing of Muslim Brotherhood in the campaign of Mohamed Morsi.

Following all of this, other Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have imposed a blockade on Qatar and left with no one, Qatar was left with Turkey, who also is accused of indirectly funding terror groups.

Qatar in return has helped Turkey fight the economic crisis and together they have recruited and trained soldiers from Somalia and Sudan for Libya. Both the countries have also undermined the UAE-Israel peace agreement which was mediated by Donald trump, the US president.

Now if Qatar is going against the themes supported by America and attempting to sabotage the peace in the region by funding terror groups, it is difficult to imagine it being an ally for the United States. What should be done is that the US should set up a review system to monitor the activities of Qatar and Turkey and analyze how different the core objectives of the two countries are from each other. Blindly designating Qatar with MNNA status will prove to be extremely harmful for the US and the peace of the Arab world.

This kind of behavior is not only unacceptable but also undermines efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Attacks on religious minorities are a direct attack on religious freedom and must be condemned by all. The Israeli authorities must take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and hold them accountable for their actions. It is also important to ensure the safety and protection of religious minorities and their places of worship, as guaranteed by international law. this incident is a sad reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region and the need for a comprehensive and just solution. It is up to all of us to work together to promote understanding, tolerance, and respect for different beliefs and cultures, and to build a brighter and more peaceful future for all.

Following the murder of three Kurds in what is being considered to be a probable racist incident , there have been widespread protests in Paris. The fact that the authorities did not view the attack at a Kurdish centre as a terrorist act has enraged the Kurdish diaspora in Paris.
