Ubisoft’s next Assassin Creed’s game to be based on 9th century Mideast

The popular video game franchise ‘Assassin’s Creed’ will return to the Middle East with the latest title in the series, ‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage,’ reportedly set in medieval Baghdad.

The news was unveiled by a French YouTube channel and later corroborated by Bloomberg writer Jason Schreier who cited a source familiar with the matter.

Moreover, in February this year, Bloomberg reported that the next installment of the Ubisoft series "Assassin's Creed Rift," will set to be an expansion of the earlier game "Assassin's Creed Valhalla," and not a standalone title with a different storyline.

Notably, Bloomberg  also reported that the game would not be "a massive open-world role-playing game like previous recent entries, focusing more instead on stealth gameplay."

However, those plans appear to have changed as "Mirage" is set to return to the series' roots in the 9th century Middle Eastern metropolis of Baghdad and will feature an assassin called Basim as its main character, first introduced to players in "Valhalla."

The artwork leaked on the fan site ‘The Codex Network’ appears to confirm Basim’s presence as the protagonist, as well as a subtitle "The Forty Thieves Quest," which takes inspiration from a Syrian story from "One Thousand and One Nights."

Furthermore, Schreier added that the game was set to be released early in 2023. Notably, there have been 12 "Assassin’s Creed" games since the initial title's launch in 2007.

As per wikipedia, Assassin's Creed is an open-world action-adventure stealth video game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed mainly by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the game engine Anvil and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond, and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed series depicts a fictional millennia-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through order and control.

All of the dead were Kurdish community members who passed away both inside and outside the cultural centre. Agit Polat, a spokesman for the Kurdish centre, charged that French officials "yet again failed to safeguard us... This is a terrorist attack in our eyes, according to the AFP news agency. In the afternoon, a number of protestors, largely from the Kurdish diaspora, got into a fight with the police outside the centre and in the streets close by, throwing rocks and torching trash cans. Police use...
