Biden Should Not Bow Down To Iran: Danny Danon

The ex-Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon feels that the elect President Joe Biden might just need to carry ahead what Donald Trump started in the first place. In his suggestion, the Iranians never took the deal seriously. The sanctions only saw them turn as a bad tempered child who wanted his way all the time.

To ‘continue the momentum’ would be the right thing to do for the Biden administration and the road of peace and reconstruction for the Middle East. Since the peace treaty was signed with Israel, he pointed out how the number of flights had increased between Tel Aviv and the rest of the Middle Eastern nations.

Further Danon feels that the Biden administration does not need to appease the Iranians. Instead, it should concentrate on “Instead, the new administration should apply more pressure, to work with the allies in the region, and if the Iranians would be willing to change the agreement which I doubt it, you can speak about it.”

In order to call the bluff, Trump did not act in ‘conventional wisdom’. He instead believed in rustling up some feathers. According to Danon, ‘that was needed and Biden administration should go ahead with that process.’

Meanwhile, Biden had announced that his administration would be willing to re-enter the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), provided Iran kept its side of the deal and adhered to peaceful use of its huge uranium deposits.

The peace treaty with Israel also weakens Iran’s position with the rest of its counterparts. With the Middle East coming with it on a common ground, there is more solidarity in the Middle east, keeping aside some notorious players like Qatar that continues to strengthen its links with Iran and play populous PR, disguising its terror funding activities across the US and Europe.

Clashes in Iraq’s Basra among Shiite rivals cause casualties

Clashes among rival Shiite Muslim militants in the city of Basra in Iraq on Thursday morning killed four people. The local security officials shared the news with the local media. The clashes also occurred throughout the country amid a political crisis that pits followers of the powerful Shiite cleric Moqtada Al-Sadr against Iran-aligned political parties. Reportedly, the latest clashes took place in the centre of Basra, Iraq’s main oil-producing hub. Basra has historically been a flashpoint between the rival Shiite groups. The violence started again in the country this week as armed supporters of Sadr fought with security forces and Iran-aligned gunmen in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Last month, thousands of supporters of Sadr stormed the parliament building in Baghdad. Sadr reportedly said that he was resigning from politics because of the actions of a rival political coalition, the Co-ordination Framework. Sadr said he would resign from politics after 10 months of fa...
