Defense ministers of Turkey and Qatar have reportedly visited the capital of crisis hit country Libya and discussed cooperation with cooperation with Libya’s internationally recognised government while the Germans are doubting the intention as they think of it as a ‘deceptive calm’.
On Monday,
Qatar’s State Minister of Defense, Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and the
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi, Akar arrived in Tripoli. According to a Syrian
observatory for Human Rights, the secret meeting was regarding the in ground
situation in Libya so that Qatar can send the 400 Syrian mercenaries that it
has been housing to train them and use them in Libya. They have predicted for
the both the Defense Ministers to meet Libyan Government of National Accord
(GNA) Fayez al-Serraj and discuss the latest developments on ground. This will
also give them an idea of how it turned out when Ankara had sent thousands of
Syrian mercenaries to Libya starting from the end of last year.
Turkey has
managed to gain the trust of Libyan administration after it provided military support to the Government
of National Accord (GNA) and helped them protect themselves from a 14-month
assault from the rival forces based in eastern Libya earlier this year.
The human rights observatory further revealed that the
Turkish intelligence is highly involved in brainwashing the Syrian mercenaries
and sending them to Qatar where they can be trained. The director of the
observatory, Rami
Abdel-Rahman,said, “Turkish
intelligence deceived about 120 fighters of the pro-Ankara Syrian factions and
agreed with them that they wanted to protect civil institutions in Qatar along
with African mercenaries already employed by Doha.”
It was later
revealed to them that they have been deceived by Turkey and are not being saved
by Turkey but being pushed into an even more risky zone in Libya. They provide
human resources to the extremist militia of Tripoli-based Government of
National Accord led by Fayez al-Sarraj.In the report by the observatory, there
are about 400 mercenaries in Doha for months, receiving training at one of the
military bases with Qatari funds.
In the end, it
all comes down to who funds these rebel activities. In this case, it is Qatar.
Qatar recruits a lot Africans to work in favour of Doha and Ankara and no less
than three years ago, the Qatari regime began getting soldiers from war-hit
country, Somalia, to increase its defense. The country had also hired Sudanese
mercenaries in order to protect Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad in Doha.
