  A few days’ back Somalia had announced its electoral model which will be known as Electoral Constituency Caucuses. As per the proceedings of this model, there will be 301 voters who will be stamping on their preferences from the 275 members of the Parliament(MP) of Somalia. This means that every federal state in the Federal Republic of Somalia will have at least three caucuses that will electing the MP’s for the Lower House. These chosen representatives will be electing the President of the country. As for the delages, they will be jointly elected by the national and state electoral bodies. After days of discussions on the election model of Somalia, President  Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed and three of the state leaders along with Mogadishu have come up with an approach that the country is going to take with regards to elections. There was a unit discussion in Galmadug state, administrative capital of Somalia, after which the members released a statement saying that members of a legislative party from each faction will elect an MP and that MP will get a seat in the parliament. MP’s for the federal house will be elected by the caucuses that each federal state will have. Each state must have three caucuses. Further, these MP’s will be electing the President of the country.   Turkey, Qatar and Libya have decided on a 30 percent increase in the salaries of Syrian mercenaries who are being sent to Libya to fight. This move is an attempt to control any possible rebellion among the Syrian fighters that may lead them to leave the country.   Defense ministers of Turkey and Qatar have reportedly visited the capital of crisis hit country Libya and discussed cooperation with cooperation with Libya’s internationally recognised government while the Germans are doubting the intention as they think of it as a ‘deceptive calm’. On Monday, Qatar’s State Minister of Defense, Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi, Akar arrived in Tripoli.   All except one in the Lebanon parliament has voted for the military to take over the country in the wake of the deadly Beirut blast on August 5 which killed nearly 200 people and left over 6000 injured. In its first session after the deadly explosion, the parliament has announced a state of emergency which means extending power to the army in the city. This move has been highly criticised by the human rights groups who think that this can be fatal for the freedom of existence in the country. Earlier a two-week emergency was declared by the cabinet in a session that was hurriedly called on by the President Michel Aoun the day of the explosion but now getting the parliament’s approval makes everything more official.   Tensions have escalated between Greece and Turkey after Turkey entered the disputed waters in the eastern meditarranean region. On Tuesday, Turkey had sent a research vessel to carry out a seismic research for energy resources. The ship was looking for a potential scope of finding oil and gas deposits south of the Greek island of Kastellorizo. Following this, Greece has planned to call out an emergency meeting of the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council, as announced by the Prime Minister’s office. Prime Minister of Turkey, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias met to come to this conclusion of involving European Union in this matter.
