Time and again Somalia is witnessing a delay in the democratic process of elections giving rise to the concerns of international communities and organizations. The constant attempts at delaying the process have come due to the hindrance created by outgoing president Farmaajo. The European Union is concerned that if this continues, it may become impossible to restore democracy or make Somali follow a democratic path in the coming days.
The extent of Farmaajo’s authoritarian approach is evident
from the fact that he has started recruiting members of the dreaded terrorist
organistaion Al-Shabab so that he could further disrupt the election process.

According to European officials who are engaged in the
African country’s affairs, the Somali leader has recruited 1,500 fighters who
have been trained in Eritrea and here on they will be involved in the process
of not letting elections happen. Not just this, even if the elections are
announced, it is their job to disrupt it even if it requires violence.
