World powers come together to ensure regional security after Taliban takeover

Taliban takeover

Now that the Taliban has formed a cabinet and allotted different ministries to its leaders, the majority of the nations are stepping up to make efforts to form an understanding with the Taliban to ensure regional security. This includes big players like Russia and China, who earlier also supported the cabinet formation of Taliban.

On Wednesday, Russia along with central Asia power brokers came together to promote security and peace in the region and collectively ask Afghanistan’s new leaders to implement ‘moderate’ policies instead of the extremist recommendations it is known for.

For the same, the Talibani leaders were present in Moscow where they suggested letting its influence grow in the region especially after the withdrawal of the American troops from the country in August. It also emphasised on the idea of pushing back all the Islamic State fighters to maintain the sanity of Afghanistan.

The meeting included representatives from 10 nations who had an immediate hand in the affairs taking place in Afghanistan. China, Iran and others too agreed on the jointly issued statement that asked for talks to continue between Afghanistan and fellow countries to promote security in Afghanistan to contribute to regional stability".

The nations also rigid Afghanistan to adapt friendly policies towards its neighbours as that will ensure longevity for peace in the region. As far as the internal matters are concerned, Moscow along with other partaking nations emphasize on ensuring respect and rights for each ethinci group in the nation.

Ensuring women's rights has been always a concern since the Taliban came to power. Previous term of Taliban has proved the disregard it has for women and their rights because of which, this time the international organisation is keeping a close eye on the internal matters of Afghanistan.

Safety is another concern amid the growing dominance of the Taliban leadership. Earlier this week, Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani gave a hint of the mentality with which the Taliban is operating in Afghanistan.  He had hailed suicide bombers who were respoble for killing sevral peoplr as ‘heories of Islam’, firther inginting the concerns related to security.
