Qatar gifts an airbus to Iran’s president-elect hoping to further strengthen ties

Ebrahim Raisi is Iran’s newly elected president despite his records and history, some of the countries have come out to support his leadership and maintain diplomatic ties. But one of the most shocking gestures shown is by Qatar.

The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Than has gifted an Airbus A380 aircraft to the newly elected president-elect of Iran. The move is a sign that Qatar wants to build a healthy relationship with Iran and its newly elected president but this is contrary to what the official of Qatar suggested earlier.

They had pointed out that since the name of Iran came into the state funded terrorisms list, it has limited its ties with the country. Iran was called out for supporting violence in the region and creating an atmosphere of unrest in the country. Qatar too was dragged into the matter and since then remained strict towards the country.

But now, this gesture shown by the Emir of Qatar proves that there is not even the slightest truth in this. Qatar’s willingness in further developing the relations with iran. It is clear that Qatar wants to play from all sides and avail the benefits. It is to be noted that this is not the first time that Qatar has shown such a huge gesture for a country.

Earlier in 2018, Qatar’s emir had gifted a $500 million private jet to Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. There is a reason why Iran-Qatar-Turkey forms a band that is different from the countries forming a diplomatic pool. Though it might be common for countries to form a diplomatic partnership, their relations with each other overpowers the diplomatic corridors.

Iran and Qatar function on a similar regional agenda, that essentially brings the two together. This means they are more than regional allies who have each other's support in destabilization of major armies in the Arab world. Qatar was also responsible for aiding the Iran-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah.

It not only aids them and provides a safe home to the terrorists, especially those backed by Iran, but also gives them crucial information that helps them launch attacks on civilians and other countries. Even the rockets that were fired by Hezbollah during the rocket barrage were directed by Qatari intelligence.

Hence the gift to the Iranian president might be shocking when considered from a diplomatic partnership but when you dig deep into the relation of these two countries, it is not as surprising. The Sheikh had also sent a cable of congratulations to the top Iranian official on Saturday after the victory was confirmed.

There two, the emir stressed on forming a strong bond with each other. Many claim that the voting in the country was unfair given the voter turnout was only slightly more than 42 percent. This is the lowest turnout in the Islamic Republic and this very fact is forcing people to reconsider the elections if agreed by the top diplomats

Sudan has been plunged into a week-long conflict, which has resulted in more than 400 deaths and thousands of injuries. The fighting has disrupted communities and caused immense suffering for civilians caught in the crossfire. However, there was a brief respite on the first day of Eid Al Fitr, as a temporary ceasefire was observed. The conflict began in the city of Al-Fashqa, located in the eastern part of Sudan, near the border with Ethiopia. The dispute over land ownership has been simmering for years, but it escalated into a full-blown conflict last week. The Sudanese army has been engaged in heavy fighting with Ethiopian forces and militias that are allegedly backed by the Ethiopian government.
