Trending today on the news was that the president of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee is confirmed stepping down.
Yoshiro Mori has officially announced his resignation. The 83-year-old, who was
also a former Japanese prime minister had been under tremendous fire for the
sexist comments he made back in February 13, 2021.
The controversy started when he responded to a remark about the Japanese
Olympic Committee's board having just five female members out of 24 and that
the meetings with more women would "drag on."
"If we increase the number of female board members, we
have to make sure their speaking time is restricted somewhat," he said.
"They have difficulty finishing, which is annoying."
He initially refused to step down.
